The Committee

Stephen HillierMBE - Hon. President
Stephen’s career as a competitor was very successful, winning many major championships as a Juvenile, Junior, Youth, and Amateur. He culminated his career by winning the World's Professional Ballroom Championship and the British Open Professional Ballroom Championship in 1986, 1987, and 1988.
Following his competitive career, he joined the committee of the Ballroom Dancers' Federation, and he has continued on the committee to this day. He received the BDF Committee Award in 1995. Soon after joining the committee, he suggested the BDF start a Youth Training Found, and this proved very successful. In 2009, Stephen put forward an idea to the BDF that they should organise a Congress at the British National Dance Festival. It continues to be organised by Stephen on behalf of the BDF, and is perhaps the one thing that his is most proud of. The congress is free of charge to anyone attending the Dance Festival.
Stephen received the Carl Alan Award for his achievements as an Amateur dancer in 1978, and in 2010 he received a second Carl Alan for the Competitive Coach Award.
He was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in 2009, for Services to Ballroom Dancing.
In 2015 Stephen was asked to become the President of the Forget-Me-Not Fund, and was proud and honoured to accept. He has been an active and responsible figure head of the fund, and takes a great interest in all of the fund’s activities.
